Invisalign Sheffield-now you can smile!
Going for an interview, getting married or just hanging out with friends, being able to laugh and smile, without thinking about it, is natural, isn’t it? UK statistics record that in excess of thirty percent of the population suffer from a dental misalignment in some form or another. At Dee Kay Dental we say that it’s not necessary to live feeling self-conscious when you want to smile. Our experienced team can help those people with a dental aligner, Invisalign Sheffield.
Malocclusion can lead to other dental problems
Many dental malocclusion conditions will eventually cause tooth decay, gum disease and bad breath. Most of these dental misalignment conditions are hereditary but thumb sucking, as a child is a common cause. Too many teeth for your jaw size or for your gums to cope with can cause bacteria to develop because there are many places that you cannot reach with a toothbrush or flossing. Gaps between teeth are another common problem which can also lead to tooth decay and in addition an improper bite can cause teeth to chip. Overbite, underbite and crossbite are conditions that often result in chipped or broken teeth. Many of these conditions can cause jaw ache and even stomach problems because of the inability to chew properly. If teeth do not meet properly to create an efficient bite it is difficult to masticate food into sizes that stomach acids can break down. The primary function of our teeth is to break down our food to aid digestion.
Solving the practical and aesthetic problems
For decades children have worn metal braces to help correct their misaligned teeth. Over many years, braces have been evolving, and today there are braces made from a variety of materials. There are still metal braces, although these have been changed over time, into a comfortable and effective dental appliance. Some braces are made from ceramics and other materials and come in clear and teeth coloured variations. They all use a similar system with some variations. Just like the original metal braces, a block is fixed to the front of the teeth and then a wire is passed through the blocks. Bands are then carefully positioned to exert the correct amount of pressure to slowly move the teeth into alignment. There are some that adjust themselves automatically which allows the patient to enjoy the freedom of fewer dental visits. There is another variety which fits onto the inside of the teeth making it almost invisible. A newer concept, Invisalign Sheffield uses a “tray,” which fits over the teeth and could be mistaken for a gumshield. This tray is made of a clear dental material making it inconspicuous.
See your smile before treatment starts!
Invisalign Sheffield uses an array of technological equipment to produce accurate and efficient results. Using a scanner and software the dentist can produce a virtual 3D image of a patient’s smile as it will look after treatment.
Treatment is more comfortable
The Invisalign system uses a series of trays, each with a slightly different orientation, designed to gradually move a patient’s teeth, to achieve dental alignment. The trays must be worn for at least twenty two hours per day, but can be removed for brushing and flossing as well as eating and drinking. The duration of the treatment will depend on the condition and the severity of that condition. On average this can be anywhere from six to twenty four months.
Smile restored
At the end of the treatment, a final aligner will be required, for another two to three weeks, to maintain the teeth in their new position. After the final dental appointment, the aligner can be removed and that beautiful, broad smile can be unleashed upon the world with confidence.
