What to expect when you get implants Sheffield
If your teeth are beginning to fall out due to decay or you have been involved in an accident that has left you with a missing tooth, then you may want to think about getting implants Sheffield. Here at Dee Kay Dental, we provide tooth replacement treatment that can restore your smile to its former glory. Your new teeth will look completely natural and you will not have to worry about your false teeth coming loose or falling out. Treatment with implants can be used to replace any amount of teeth, so do not feel as if your situation isn’t “bad enough” to make an appointment if you are only missing one tooth. Having a consultation appointment is essential if you want to progress with this treatment as one of our dentists will need to fully examine your mouth before treatment begins.
A brand new smile in as little as six weeks
When you get implants Sheffield, you will need a certain number of titanium screws to be inserted into your jawbone; this is so that your new teeth have something secure to attach to. The screws keep your jawbone stimulated, unlike other tooth replacement treatments, which prevents it from disintegrating over time and giving you a “sunken” appearance. If you are having one tooth replaced, you will only need to have one screw inserted, but if you want to replace multiple teeth, you may not need one screw per tooth.
In some cases, people can get a whole mouthful of teeth replaced using as few as four screws. Usually, when replacing a full set of teeth, you can expect to have up to 12 screws to support them. Once the screws themselves are in, you will need to wait about 6 weeks before returning to our practice to have the final parts of your new teeth attached. Your mouth will heal around the screws, leaving a small part of them jutting out from your gum so that your new teeth have something to secure on to.
Treatment that lasts a decade (or even longer)
Once you have had implants Sheffield, they will last you an incredibly long time, as long as you take proper care of them. Our dentist will recommend which products you should be using and talk you through how to clean your new artificial teeth thoroughly. Implants remain in your mouth at all times, and so, this means that there is more chance of plaque being able to build up around your new teeth if you do not clean them properly twice a day. As long as you take good care of them, you can expect your new teeth to last for up to 10 years. This, of course, varies from patient to patient, and in some cases, you could find that they last even longer. However, if you do find that one of your teeth has become damaged or you feel discomfort, then we urge you to make an appointment with one of our dentists as soon as possible to ensure that everything is okay.
