Restore that smile with Invisalign in Gainsborough

As we get older our teeth can start to move and shift into different positions in our mouth. Not only does this cause them to look crooked or overcrowded, it can also lead to a number of additional oral health issues such as jaw pain and an increased chance of inflammation and infection setting in.

To avoid all this nasty business you might want to consider an appointment for Invisalign in Gainsborough. Here’s a little bit more about how we can use these braces to help save your smile.

How we save your smile

The process of our team using Invisalign in Gainsborough is pretty easy to explain. Basically, we use a clear plastic mouthguard to straighten out the crooked positioning of your teeth over time, by gentle pressing them into new preferred situations. The braces are custom moulded to fit your mouth and you can pop them out whenever you want to easily.

What does it involve?

Having one of these braces fitted is an incredibly simple process. Our team will bring you in for a consultation meeting, then we will normally use a scanning machine to map out your teeth and create a picture on a screen of your mouth. We can then move this around to show you how your brace will straighten out your teeth, it’s a science fiction sounding process that is non-invasive and doesn’t involve any uncomfortable impression taking.

At Dee Kay Dental, our team will take you through your Invisalign fitting in a safe and professional manner, to provide you with your customised brace which will enhance your smile.

Is it going to be painful?

A common question a lot of our patients have is whether a particular procedure is going to be painful or not. During this treatment you may feel some mild discomfort after wearing the brace for a while, but this is natural as your teeth are being physically moved around. Generally we recommend you use over the counter painkillers when appropriate, as well as having short breaks with the brace out of your mouth.

Although, if you do plan on popping it out for a bit we advise you to only do so for two hours at most, as you need to keep the guard in for a minimum of 22 hours a day to ensure the realignment goes off without a hitch.

Our advice for keeping it clean

Once you have your lovely new brace your most important task going forward should be keeping it clean and shiny. To do this just give it a light brush with a recommended cleaning solution at least once every second day. Doing this regularly should keep out any harmful bacteria, remove plaque and tartar, as well as reduce staining or yellowing of the brace.
