Oral care tips from your dentist Sheffield team

The talented team at Dee Kay Dental have decided to help out our patients who may be struggling to find that oral care routine that works for them. We’ve managed this by providing a few tips from our dentist Sheffield team that will help you keep those teeth and gums healthy and clean.

Brush those teeth as often as you can

Perhaps the most basic, yet important change you can make to your daily oral care routine is to just brush as often as possible. Generally we recommend our patients give those pearly whites a good scrub at least twice a day, once in the morning and again in the evening before bed, to ensure that any plaque that builds up throughout the day is cleared out.

Give each section of your mouth a thorough clean before moving onto the next part to make sure you get any stubborn pieces of tartar that might be dug in.

Try flossing at least once a day

Another tip from our dentist Sheffield team is to try flossing at least once a day, preferably after meals. Flossing between your teeth and gums regularly will help to remove any food particles that can become stuck in there, which over time can lead to cavities forming or gingivitis setting in.

To make sure your teeth are tartar free we recommend that you thread some floss through them after every meal you have, as well as any snacks.

Invest in an electric brush

When it comes to brushing your teeth we advise that you consider trading in that manual brush for an electric one. Using sonic technology their vibrating bristles are able to reach into deeper crevices between your teeth and gums that you might normally miss or struggle to reach on your own.

At Dee Kay Dental our talented team members will be able to provide you with all the information you need to find the brush that suits your needs, as well as giving you a few tips on the right brushing techniques.

Consider using mouthwash

On top of using dental floss our team also recommends that you introduce mouthwash to your daily cleaning routine. A regular rinse of your teeth with a dental wash allows a thorough clean of your teeth as it dissolves leftover plaque and tartar missed by brushing, as well as providing you with lovely fresh breath.

Book regular check-ups with our team

Finally, you can’t go wrong with a regular check-up. Regular meetings with our team every six months allows us to track your overall oral health and keep an eye out for the forming of any cavities or other issues.

Just one of these is a great start to making a positive change to your oral care routine. Remember, it doesn’t need to be a big overnight change, gradual slow tweaks here and there work just as well.
