What happens first?

Invisalign in Sheffield uses clear plastic aligners to help correct the misalignment issues of your teeth and create a beautiful smile for you. Over the last few decades, Invisalign in Sheffield has become a highly popular method of cosmetic dental treatment. It has been used to help improve hundreds and thousands of smiles all over the world and you could be next in line here at Dee Kay Dental.

To undergo any type of orthodontic or cosmetic dental treatment, it is important to make sure that your teeth are strong and healthy; so, you will have to make an appointment to visit our friendly and experienced team at Dee Kay Dental. Our dentist will carry out a full examination of your mouth to ensure that you don’t have any problems with your teeth that could be affected or worsened when you use Invisalign in Sheffield. We will either clean your teeth or recommend you to a hygienist to get rid of any plaque or tartar before you begin your course of treatment with Invisalign.

How does it work?

Once our dentist agrees that you are ready, we will then scan your teeth using advanced three-dimensional computer imaging technology. Not only will it help us get an accurate idea of how your teeth will look following successful treatment, but these scans will also aid in individually manufacturing the aligners themselves.

Invisalign works by using a series of almost invisible aligners that work together to help create a beautiful smile. Each of these aligners is designed to apply gentle pressure to your teeth when worn, moving them into position by approximately 0.25mm increments. You need to wear each of the aligners for around 22 hours a day for two weeks. After this, you must begin using the next aligner in the series. Continue progressing through the aligners until you have reached the end of the series and achieved the smile that you were looking for.

In the meantime, you can visit our dentist after you have changed every 3 to 4 aligners and we will make sure that the treatment is coming along successfully. The length of treatment will depend on how crooked your teeth were at the beginning and the final results that you hope for.
